Community Wetlands Forum (CWF) have developed a Guide for Wetland Communities Engaging in Creative Projects to provide guidance to communities for creative projects that are inclusive and reciprocal, celebrating the importance of wetland habitats and their deep cultural significance.

This practical resource provides guiding principles, informative checklists, as well as examples to help communities explore creative engagement approaches to conservation. Grounded on the belief that local communities are best placed to care for their surrounding landscapes and that their voices, knowledge and experiences must be central to decisions about wetland protection, creative and socially engaged practices take centre stage to enable meaningful engagement, participation, and empowerment.

Creative practices can help to amplify diverse voices, strengthen people's connection to these complex socio-ecological systems, and support communities in imagining shared futures. CWF hope that this guide will encourage more communities and projects to engage in artistic collaborations.

It also features the work of nineteen artists and creatives whose work focuses on Ireland's wetlands.

CWF's mission is to support the protection, management and wise use of Ireland’s wetlands for sustainable communities, by providing a network for community wetland groups to share knowledge, ideas, research, and best practice.
