In collaboration with Leave No Trace Ireland, the Peatlands and People project offers corporate open days that bring employees outdoors for hands-on environmental action, including Sphagnum planting on some of our BnM sites.
Who is Leave No Trace?
Leave No Trace Ireland is the national outdoor ethics programme. Since 2008, it has empowered people across Ireland to care for and protect our natural environment through education, community action, research, and partnerships. Its mission is to inspire responsible recreation and environmental stewardship.
What Are ESG Days for Peatlands?
As part of the Leave No Trace corporate engagement offering, ESG Impact Days bring employees outdoors for hands-on environmental action, education, and team-building.
In 2024, Leave No Trace, in collaboration with BnM and the Peatlands and People project, delivered a series of ESG Days for Deloitte employees at Killaranny Bog, near Lough Boora Discovery Park, Co. Offaly.
These days included:
- Workshops on the Leave No Trace Principles
- Ecologist-led biodiversity walks
- Sphagnum moss planting to accelerate peatland restoration
Over four volunteer days in September, 137 Deloitte volunteers planted 8,400m² of moss across 7 sphagnum cells. This work builds on the BnM rehabilitation plan and supports the return of naturalised peatland habitat and future carbon sequestration.
