UCD are seeking a qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated student for a 4-year PhD project funded by Teagasc under the Walsh Scholarships Programme that will investigate processes linking hydrological changes (drainage/rewetting) to soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycling in organic (peat) and organo-mineral soils. The research will focus specifically on organic C and N mineralisation and immobilisation and the relationship to soil properties (redox potential and nutrient status).

The application deadline is 1 June 2021.

This opportunity is not linked to the Peatlands and People project, but the results will be of interest to any peatlands initiatives.
