Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term position as a Senior Research Fellow - Partnership Managerwith Applied Systems Thinking unit within the Whitaker institute at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

This position is funded by EU LIFE19 IPC/IE/000007 (LIFE IP Peatlands and People) and is available from October 1st 2021 to contract end date of September 30th, 2023.

The LIFE project's Pillar 3 People’s Discovery Attraction is about the development of an immersive, inspiring and magical attraction introducing visitors to the importance of climate action, peatlands, carbon, biodiversity, energy transition and behaviour change. The public and other stakeholders will be educated about our peatlands, their impact on climate change, the cycle of carbon, carbon sinks and banks to become change agents in their own lives and communities. Visitors will experience ethical, sustainable and responsible initiatives, programmes, activities, events, workshops and exhibits along with opportunities for training, work experiences, internships and degrees.

The Senior Research Fellow will be responsible for the delivery of the research, governance structure, financial viability, and partnership framework for the People’s Discovery Attraction. The ideal candidate will have had significant experience in the non-profit sector, reporting to a voluntary board, including a track record of project start up and development and track record of success in dealing with the early-stage challenges around project definition, partnership selection, partnership relationships, materials development, and engagement. The successful candidate is expected to actively lead in the development and delivery of further funding proposals. They must be a motivated self-starter, as well as being focused and exacting in their work ethic. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of Dr. Christine Domegan at NUI Galway.
